In Sex Party at the Opera House, Allegra Wilson has animated a sex party (at the opera house!) into human form and spirit; complete with its own history, invitations, boundaries, and titillations. You don’t need to be a connoisseur of sex parties or operas to enjoy this collection (though if you are, your pleasure might be deepened). Each poem will pull back curtains to reveal “pink marshmallow curtains, red lipstick girls” so lush that your hands won’t be able to let go of this pulsing collection. Beautifully crafted lines, enjambments, and stanzas serve as a welcoming container of lyric for this “Churning operetta with an appetite for leather.” Please, come as you are “into velvet and pearl until you say its name.” Sex Party at the Opera House!
